Presentation of Domaine de Joÿ – Ode to joy - Côtes de Gascogne Blanc Demi-Sec
This Ode à la Joie cuvée from Domaine de Joÿ is one of the rare semi-dry white wines from Gascony . The color is light yellow with gold reflections. On the nose, aromas of ripe apricots appear as well as a slight hint of spice and vanilla. On the palate, the attack is rich, full of “pep” and the light aging in barrels provides fat which counterbalances the acidity and sugar. The good sugar/acidity balance allows the finish to retain a nice freshness! To be tested on sweet and savory Asian cuisine!
HISTORY OF THE ESTATE
Like the vast majority of estates in Gascony, the history of Domaine de Joÿ begins with a mixed farming and breeding activity. In love with this region and established since the beginning of the century, the Gessler family, of Swiss origin, gradually abandoned mixed farming and dedicated the entire Domaine de Joÿ to the cultivation of vines. Today it is Olivier, Vanessa, Gaël and Kévin Gessler who have taken the helm of the family business, bringing their dynamism and youth to the service of their production of IGP Côte de Gascogne and Armagnac wines (Bas- Armagnacs) recognized throughout the world as being among the best in the region. The Joÿ estate, a follower of sustainable agriculture since 2005, has been certified in High Environmental Value (HVE level 3) since the beginning of 2019.
