Presentation of Domaine Philippe Chéron Gevrey Chambertin “Les Seuvrées”
The Gevrey Chambertin “Les Seuvrées” by Philippe Chéron has a beautiful aromatic power on black cherry. Here, the presence of marl brings generosity and opulence to this wine, the limestone preserves the nobility and the race. The ancestral grape varieties contribute to the harmony of the whole. The vines are established on an outcrop of Comblanchien limestone partially covered with Bresse marl. A third of the vines were planted in 1954, the balance in 1960; maximum production is 1,500 bottles. A wine for aging which will develop with regard to the finish which is still very present on fresh red fruits. Very nice potential to come.
HISTORY OF THE ESTATE
At the end of the 1930s Paul Misset, grandfather of Philippe Chéron , acquired plots of vines on the Cote de Nuits . Not being a winemaker, he entrusted the management to farmers. Two generations later, Paul Misset's grandchildren built around these historic plots a wine estate today covering 5 hectares and spread over the Nuits Saint Georges , Vosne Romanée , Chambolle Musigny appellations with plots in 1er Cru and Clos of Vougeot Grand Cru . Since 2011, Phillipe Chéron has worked its vines (70% of which are old vines) from its prestigious climates as naturally as possible, without insecticides or weedkillers and maintaining low yields. An engaging and talented winemaker to stock up on great Burgundy red wine.
