History of the brand
A true specialist in traditional duck foie gras from the South-West and the Landes, Maison Lafitte was founded in 1920. The ducks with foie gras come from an old and rustic strain with slow growth, the entire production follows the Label Rouge specifications with ducks fattened according to the traditional whole corn method from the South-West (This traditional type of production represents less than 5% of French production). Maison Lafitte works with breeders located within a maximum radius of 30km around the company, in order to best promote regional and ancestral know-how. The traditional way of raising ducks gives Lafitte foie gras a rustic taste and a unique texture. The foie gras is prepared in small batches by hand in the company's kitchens.
